Jill Sharkey is a new quilter and has just completed her first large quilt. It is for her honorary grandson who turns six this month. Jill has done a wonderful job. Jill cut, sewed and pressed each Wednesday at the Sit and Stitch group to achieve her outstanding result. She devised all the blocks and their placement, fabric colours and worked diligently to achieve this wonderful result using foundation piecing. One customer returned the day Jill had the quilt on display in the shop and asked for the pattern. Jill has selected fabric to match tones on front for the back of the quilt allowing Alex to continue to use the quilt when he is a little older and use the reverse side. He will get many more years of enjoyment from the quilt made by his honorary grandmother.
Well done Jill!
We are very fortunate to have Brigitte Giblin teaching at Southern Cross Needlework.
Brigitte will return in 2010. Ring to have your name put on the waiting list.

Some of the designs from Southern Cross Needlework

Southern Cross Needlework designs, creates
and produces tapestry and cross stitch kits in Australian
flora and themes.
Australasia is a diverse region. It harbours many treasures
for the embroiderer to explore.
Australia is not only a harsh, unforgiving land; it is also
very beautiful. Much of that beauty is showcased in its native
flora and fauna. Vivid colours dot the landscape, particularly
after rain.
That richness has been realised also, to translate events
significant to Australia.
Southern Cross Needlework has captured this vibrancy and diversity
for all embroiderers to enjoy.
