Whats New

2011

Rhonda has two new cross stitch designs to challenge you for the new year.

Colonial School Sampler - Dorothea Bower 1898

This a charming sampler is based on Rhonda's paternal grandmother. She lived her life in the true sense of the verse specially written by Rhonda. She was 91 years when she passed away.Dorothea was born at The Oaks near Picton south of Sydney bordering on the Southern Highlands. She was a trained tailor a trade which kept her in good stead all her life.  She made clothes, later trained as a milliner and continued all her life to have abundant energy and a positive attitude to the many life challenges she had to endure. She was a 'good woman' in every respect. The teapot represents her open hospitality when ever she had visitors. She loved pears and flowers. Was terrified of frogs. Her hands were never still. She loved her garden, people and was known for her many kindnesses to people who were down on their luck.

Included in the pattern is a recipe for Jam Drops. Dorothea would have learnt at that stage to make basic cakes and biscuits by the age of ten.

Pattern cost is $10 including postage (Australia)   Email: scn5@bigpond.com  Phone: 02 4936 6600

The sampler is worked on 28ct deep cream or light mocca linen. Two stranded threads over two fabric threads.

Almost Christmas

My mother who passed away last year had many interesting bits and pieces she collected throughout her life. One I found was a tile she kept on the kitchen dresser. Here it has been modified. these two delightful children are looking as though they are quietly excited so I have named the cross stitch 'Almost Christmas'. Christmas was always a special time for our family, especially Christmas Eve.

Rhonda has included a recipe for a Traditional Christmas Cake. Something our mother always made.

Pattern cost is $10 including postage (Australia)  Email: scn5@bigpond.com  Phone: 02 4936 6600

The cross stitch is worked on antique white 28ct linen. Two stranded threads over two linen threads.

 Threads of Friendship

This quilt was completed by Rhonda just after her father passed away. It reflects her gratitude to the many friends who supported her during that time. The quilt comprises twenty five blocks. Comprehensive notes and directions are included in the pattern together with photos. You can purchase the pattern for $40 plus postage.or as a BOM. If you chose a BOM you will receive two bocks per month for thirteen months together with instruction how to complete the quilt. The cost of each BOM is $35 includ postage. You can expect thirteen postings for this project. The total price will be $455. If you pay up front the cost will be $440. Fabrics may vary from the original but fabrics equally as lovely will substitute. Colours used are mauve, lemon, soft pink, blue and green predominantly.

This quilt comprises hand embroidery, machine sewing and machine quilting.

This quilt is very much admired in the shop and very sweet.
